Labatt has developed a number of innovative promotions to grow the sport of hockey in communities across Canada. These include the company’s major sponsorship of the 1972 Summit Series, sponsorships of the National Hockey League and the Canadian Adult Recreational Hockey Association, and numerous teams and leagues.
Football also plays an important part in Labatt’s sponsorship portfolio. Labatt has played an active role in supporting the Canadian Football League teams. Through Budweiser, Labatt is also one of the longest-standing sponsors of the National Football League in Canada.
Included among Labatt’s amateur sports sponsorships are national and provincial softball, fastball, Slo-Pitch championships, Season’s of Champions Canadian curling, and major Junior and recreational hockey championships.

Baseball
Labatt’s passion for professional baseball has spanned more than two decades. In 1977, Labatt helped lay the groundwork for a new era in Toronto, playing an integral role in bringing the Toronto Blue Jays franchise to Canada. Since this time, Labatt has become synonymous with baseball and proudly continues its support of the two-time World Series Champion Blue Jays.
Football
A longtime sponsor of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Labatt has played an active role in its support of the Canadian Football League since the early 1960s. Through the Budweiser brand, Labatt is one of the longest standing sponsors of the National Football League in Canada.
Hockey
Labatt also has a long history of support for hockey in Canada as a major sponsor of the 1972 Summit Series and the last four Canada Cup international hockey tournaments. Since the fall of 1998, Labatt has been a proud major sponsor of the National Hockey League. Since then, Labatt has developed innovative promotions in conjunction with the NHL, to grow the sport of hockey in communities across Canada.
Through its association with many of Canada’s sports teams, Labatt assists in the development of community awareness programs regarding the responsible use of alcohol.
Recreational Sponsorships
Included among Labatt’s amateur sports sponsorships are Slo-Pitch championships and provincial curling, as well as Major Junior and recreational hockey championships, including the Labatt Hockey Challenge program across Canada, which each year involves up to 40,000 players.
In addition, Labatt supports sports such as freestyle mountain biking and wakeboarding through competitions like Crankworks and Wakestock.
On another note, Labatt also stands behind arts and entertainment through its involvement with the Just for Laughs comedy festival as well as specific communities through events such as Pride Week in Toronto. |
