Young Adults to Benefit Communities
At Labatt, giving back
to the community goes well beyond sponsorships
and affiliations. Our commitment to charitable
initiatives has been a pillar of the company since
its founding. Labatt’s philanthropic mandate
is based on a vision of providing young adults
with the tools and leadership experiences that
allow them to become agents of positive change
in their communities.
Labatt People in
Action (LPIA)
Since 1977, the Labatt
People in Action Program has helped students gain
valuable work experience by funding their employment
with a registered charity. LPIA encourages the
student and registered charity to develop a summer
project that will provide the student with skills–
including responsibility, positive attitude, leadership,
creativity and motivation– that can be applied
in the work world. The project is designed together
by the student and charity and should make a positive
impact on their community.

Future Leaders:
The Labatt Future
Leaders Award is Labatt People in Action's most
prestigious honour. Presented by Labatt Breweries
of Canada, the award acknowledges students who
- through their exemplary leadership, passion
and commitment - have made an outstanding contribution
in their summer job and to their community.
The award is open to Labatt People in Action
students as nominated by their employer. It is
given to four outstanding students (one each from
the Atlantic, Quebec, Ontario and West) whose
contribution represents a measurable and distinctive
contribution to their community and to their charity.
Winners of the Labatt Future Leaders award will
earn a $1,500 scholarship and will be flown, all
expenses paid, to one of Canada's top cities to
participate in the Labatt Future Leaders Summit,
October 4 to 6.
The Summit will convene some of our country's
current leaders from government, sports and entertainment
worlds. The student will have an opportunity to
share their stories about what they learned in
their summer jobs as well as their views and insights
on youth empowerment, youth employment strategies,
volunteerism and civic engagement. The students
will also have a chance to tour the host city.
The Labatt 24-Hour Relay
Since its inception in 1979, The Labatt 24-Hour
Relay fundraising events, currently held in over
15 communities coast to coast, have raised millions
of dollars annually for a variety of locally determined
causes. These events bring together friends, families,
businesses, and employees, all in the spirit of
fun, teamwork, and enthusiasm to support worthwhile
charities.
Labatt Employee Matching
Gift Program
The Labatt Employee Matching Gift Program was
established in honour of retired Labatt president,
Peter Hardy. The program allows for gifts from
employees and retirees in Canada to registered
Canadian charities and non-profit organizations
to be matched by the company on a dollar-for-dollar
basis. The company will match two gifts per employee
per calendar year. The minimum amount applicable
is $50 and the maximum amount matched by the company
is $2,000.
